Privacy Policy
Effective September 30, 2026
This policy explains how the operator of PDF to Link handles information when you use the website, upload a document, or read a shared PDF.
Information we collect
Account information includes your email address, name if provided, authentication information, and settings. If you use Google sign-in, we receive the account details needed to sign you in.
When you publish a PDF, we process the file, its title and settings, and the assets needed to display it. Your document may contain personal information that you chose to upload.
When a reader opens a published document, we record usage events for the owner's analytics, such as sessions, page views, active time on visible pages, and recorded exits. Technical logs may include IP address, browser and device information, timestamps, and referral data. These measurements are estimates; some visits or exits cannot be detected reliably.
We also process feedback messages, transaction and subscription records, and basic visit-source information used for payment attribution. Google Analytics measures visits to our website by default and may use cookies or similar identifiers unless you choose Essential only.
How we use information
We use this information to provide accounts, upload and host documents, render reading pages, enforce access settings, show analytics to document owners, process payments, answer requests, prevent abuse, and maintain the service.
We do not use uploaded PDF content to train a general-purpose AI model. We do not sell uploaded documents or reader analytics. A document owner can see analytics for documents they control.
Sharing and public documents
A published link can be opened by people who receive it, subject to the access settings selected by its owner. Password protection limits access but does not make a shared link private once the password is distributed. Owners should avoid uploading information they are not authorized to share.
Service providers may process information for hosting, storage, email, sign-in, bot protection, analytics, and payments. The application uses Cloudflare infrastructure and, where enabled, Google sign-in, Google Analytics, and Stripe payments. These providers receive information needed for their functions and apply their own notices to their services. We may disclose information when required by law or to protect the service and its users.
Cookies and choices
Essential cookies and similar storage support sign-in, security, and basic site operation. Google Analytics loads by default. Choosing Essential only stops future Google Analytics collection, clears its available cookies, and stops and clears the optional visit-source record used for payment attribution. On later visits, Google Analytics remains off while that choice is stored. You can reopen cookie preferences using the control at the bottom of the page.
You can control document access settings in the dashboard. Browser settings can also limit cookies, although disabling essential storage may prevent sign-in or other features from working.
Retention, security, and location
We keep information for as long as needed to operate the service, meet legal or accounting obligations, resolve disputes, and prevent abuse. Deleting a document in the dashboard removes it from your active document list; some records or backups may remain for a limited period. We do not promise immediate deletion of every copy.
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards, including access controls and secure transport. No online system can guarantee absolute security. Service providers may process data outside your country, subject to applicable safeguards and their service terms.
Your requests and policy changes
You may ask to access, correct, export, or delete information associated with your account, or object to certain processing, where applicable law gives you these rights. We may need to verify your identity and retain information that the law requires us to keep. For requests about a document owned by someone else, contact that owner first.
We may update this policy when the service changes. We will post the revised version here with a new effective date and provide additional notice when required.
